Spyder Club Membership FAQs

  1. What happens to any unused days, points or miles at the end of my membership?
  2. Members can carry over 50% of any unused days, points or miles to their next membership.  Please click here for the full membership packages.

  3. What is the insurance excess on the road bikes?
  4. The insurance excess on the road bikes is £750.  This amount is only payable if the damage matches or exceeds this amount, if the bike can be repaired for less, then that is the sum that will be charged.  General wear and tear will not be charged for; the bikes are here to be ridden!

  5. Do I pay for anything else once I have paid my membership fee?
  6. The only extra costs for members include fuel and speeding or parking fines.  Also any repair or damage costs up to the value of the insurance excess.

  7. Can I take a bike abroad?
  8. Yes, the bikes can be taken anywhere within the EU for an additional fee of £60 and with prior permission from Spyder Club.

  9. Can I take a bike on track?
  10. Only the track bikes are allowed on track to be used as part of an organized track day event.  Yes, the Nurburgring does count as a track...

  11. What is the insurance excess on the track bikes?
  12. The bikes are not insured whilst on track however track insurance can be purchased.  There is no minimum damage payment any damage caused will be paid for in full up to the value of the bike.

  13. What are the times for the bike hire periods?
  14. A weekend runs from pm Friday to am Monday.
    The midweek hire period runs from am Tuesday to pm Thursday.
    Spyder Club delivers bikes to its members within the membership cost on any bookings of three days or more.  Therefore delivery times are dependent on the route of that particular day.

    A bank holiday runs from pm Friday to am Tuesday.

    Single days may be available on a last minute basis and subject to a delivery fee of 60p per mile.

  15. When does membership finish?
  16. Membership ends one year after it commences or whenever you have run out of days, points or miles.  Membership can be renewed at any time.

  17. Can I take a pillion passenger?
  18. Yes, all Spyder Club members are fully comprehensively insured for themselves and their pillion passengers.

  19. Is it possible to have a bike delivered?
  20. Yes, bikes are delivered to members as part of your membership fee on bookings of three days or more.

  21. How do I book a bike?
  22. Spyder Club has an online booking system which all members have access to or bookings can be taken by phone or email.

  23. How can I pay?
  24. Spyder Club accepts all major credit and debit cards and personal cheques.  There is a 2.5% processing fee for credit cards.

  25. Can I pay by monthly installments?
  26. We don't offer an installment payment plan.

  27. Are all the best bikes always booked out?  Is bike availability good?
  28. Spyder Club have an online booking system which is run on a rolling monthly calendar so all members have an equal opportunity to book within that period.  Furthermore, we have set our bike to member ratio at 1 bike: 5 members to try to ensure good availability, therefore the more members, the more bikes at Spyder Club.

    Also each membership level has the opportunity to advance book a number of times within their year’s membership:

    Level 1 has 4 advance bookings
    Level 2 has 3 advance bookings
    Level 3 has 2 advance bookings

    Inevitably there may be times when a particular bike is not available but we will do our best to ensure an alternative is provided.

  29. What are Spyder Club’s membership criteria?
  30. Applicants must: be aged between 25 and 70 years of age; have no more than six points on their licence; have held their full motorbike licence for at least two years and have at least two years no claims bonus.

    Membership may still be considered on an individual basis if not all of the above stipulations are met, please contact us for further information.

  31. I have friends who would also like to join Spyder Club.
  32. A 10% discount is available for groups of three or more joining together.  If you introduce a friend whilst a member then you will receive 10% off your next year’s membership fee.

  33. Can I share membership with a friend?
  34. Membership cannot be shared but there are discounts available for group joining or if you introduce a friend.

  35. What are the mileage restrictions?
  36. You can ride as far as your mileage allowance lets you.  If you find that you are using excessive miles or would like to discuss an increased mileage package then please contact us.

  37. Do Spyder Club members receive any other benefits?

    Yes, Spyder Club has negotiated many great deals for our members.  These include:

    10% off Focused Events track days
    10% off at the Ron Haslam Race School

  38. Are there any discounts available?

    Spyder Club regularly have special offers, to be kept up to date with these please subscribe to the newsletter.  Members of the armed forces and emergency services receive a 10% discount off the membership fee.

  39. Can I join Spyder Club if I don't have a British motorbike licence?

    Foreign motorcycle licence holders are welcome to apply.
